I first met with Peter at Zero One sound studios. He wanted a surreal painted image for his 'Instict' CD cover. His one requirement was to include his guitar, an Ibanez Gem with a Floyd Rose tremelo and replacement Tom Anderson Pickups and active electronics. He did love that guitar.
I proposed a painting of his guitar being displayed in an art gallery.
I expanded on the theme by introducing interpretations of his guitar by famous artists whereas 'Guitar' by Peter Banks would be emerging from the canvas and plugged into a Marshall amp.
The gallery is a snap-shot allowing further use of the idea for future art-works of his guitar on following CD covers.

Peter contacted me for a second CD cover for his album 'Self Contained'
This time he had an image of an old European religious woodcut. It represented spiritual and worldly states from hell through to heaven. He gave me some idea of the finished cover in his hand written notes (see below).
I continued the art gallery theme from 'Instinct' and took on Peters idea that 'God's domain' was something to be 'turned on' but someone had forgotten to plug it in.
His Ibanez Gem guitar takes up it's 'rightful' position, ascending space into heaven.

A friend, connected to Zero One studios, had an indi band called 'Vital Signs'.
They were considering releasing a CD and asked if I could 'come-up with something' for the cover, no brief.
The painting was inspired by Area 51. The figure dressed like one of the men-in-black sports a vital sign logo tie and is using an 'instrument', vital signs music box. It just seemed right.
